What are some advantages of a lead holder over a traditional pencil?

girlbcc said much of it, but let me just add something: how much lead do you use on a typical drawing? I will generally whittle out at least an inch of exposed lead from my pencils every two drawings. Sometimes I use that much in one picture or less. If I just used a sharpener I’d be using it every five minutes, and of course, sometimes the lead breaks. So obviously, a lead holder can be a HUGE advantage (not always, actually, but often).
